Clean the windows! Mop the floor! Have you bought new clothes?
I once dreaded the fuss, but this year is different. It shall be my last in the next 3 years, in Singapore. Gone will be the usual routine of the house visiting, putting up the same smile and niceties to the same acquaintences that we never knew their names since a decade ago.
Lunar New Year, a good time to think how far we've come and grown, as the aunties fuss over how you have double eye-lids and how you look better in long hair etc. Yet, more importantly, it reminds me of how much I've stayed the same, despite all the changes the years have presented. That is the greater power.
The Nest
It is indeed lovely to walk into my garden before dawn, and see the bird resting in its nest that it has painstakingly, and patiently, constructed through the wet season.
Such a small creature, so close (I can actually walk up to the nest, and the sleeping bird will be at eye level), reminds me of the tenacity of the will to survive, and the power of perseverance.
More, it reminds me of life. How very infrequent do we contemplate our very existence.
